Fiction Among Friends will offer a variety of options to writers and storytellers July 13-17 in the little Adirondack Mountain town of Thurman, NY—just minutes from Lake George Village, but, as Thurman folks like to say, light years different. Visiting Thurman is like stepping back in time, to a place where the pace of life is slower, and there's time to stop in this quiet place to contemplate life's blessings and the natural beauty surrounding you. Whether you choose one workshop or the whole retreat enchilada, it's a great place to get in touch with the artist within, hone your skills and stretch your literary wings—all in a warm, supportive atmosphere. To accommodate different tastes, needs and schedules, organizers Perky Granger and Cassie Selleck offer several different ways for you to participate.

OPTION I. THE FULL RETREAT PACKAGE
Be an in-residence retreat participant, (limited to those 21 years of age and older). Immerse yourself in the writing experience and become energized by the synergy generated from working, eating, talking, laughing and playing together for the duration of the retreat--and beyond. If you are serious about moving forward with your work in progress and need inspiration, guidance, support and nurturing, this is the best option for you. Reservations and prepayment are required. Early bird discounts till May 15; all payments due by June 15.

Retreat participants' fees include all meals, all workshops, admission to the Story Concert, blocks of quiet free writing time, in-residence critique sessions and campfire readings and storytelling. Fee does not cover scheduled individual consultation/critque sessions with visiting authors/storytellers.

Those opting for the full retreat will be guests at Beaver Meadow Lodge, space limited to 7 guests. $750 fee includes lodging in this rustic log cabin, as well as all meals, workshops, peer critque sessions, campfires, etc. Fee does not cover individual consultation/critque sessions with visiting authors/storytellers. You are invited to attend a free tour of Toad Hill Maple Farm and Nettle Meadow Goat Farm and Cheese Factory and Martins' Lumber & Stained Glass Stepping Stones. Please sign up on the registration form.

OPTION II. ACTIVITIES WITHOUT RETREAT
Prearrange to take some or all of the workshops, author consultations and Story Concert on an "a la carte" basis, commuting from home or from area lodging arranged by yourself. We can recommend motels, B&Bs and campsites close by, or refer you to area Chambers of Commerce. Please note size limitations and other restrictions of the various workshops, and click on the link to each presenter's page to learn more about the workshop and what you may need to bring. Reservations and prepayment are required, and we suggest reserving early before workshop slots are filled. You may be eligible for a discount.

A. Workshops on an amazing array of writing and storytelling are shown on the schedule page. They are open to all except as noted on the schedule. You may add a lunch to your prepaid workshop registration for a small fee. Prepayment is required to secure your place. (See payment details.)

B. Individual Author Critique/Consultation Sessions - Consult privately with one of our author/presenters about your work. Consultation length and fees are shown on the registration forms. You should check the consultant's page on our website to learn what prerequisites apply.

C. Story Concert - We hope you will join us on Saturday evening at 7p.m. for the Story Concert ($8 if prepaid via the web site, till July 5, $10 at the gate), to feature nationally-known storyteller Bil Lepp, Bob Reiser, Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi and Karen Pillsworth, and others.. Refreshments will be available but you will need to bring your own chair. We recommend layered clothing for changeable mountain weather.

D. Free Tours - You are invited to attend a free tour of Toad Hill Maple Farm , Nettle Meadow Goat Farm and Cheese Factory, and Martin's Lumber and Stained glass Stepping Stones. (Please sign up with us on the registration form.)
