Fiction Among Friends
Story Workshops - July 13 - 17, 2007
Focusing on the art of story, both written and spoken
Presented by Perky Granger and Cassie Selleck,
With special
support from the Adirondack Center for Writing
Workshops will be held at two locations,
Thurman Town Hall, 311 Athol Road, Athol, NY 12810 and
The Northwoods Lodge, 188 Bear Pond Road, Athol 12810.

Cassie and Perky have organized five days of workshops on a variety of topics sure to interest writers and storytellers. There are options for participation.

  • The in-residence retreat package includes lodging at Beaver Meadow Lodge, any and all workshops, tours, the Fiction Among Friends Story Concert, peer critique sessions and evening activities at Beaver Meadow Lodge—total immersion in writing. Fee for the retreat package is $750, less any discount you may be entitled to. (See Retreat Registration Form.)

  • Those not wishing to enroll in the entire retreat may enroll in workshops of their choice for $40 each. Some discounts may apply (See Selected Activities Registration Form.)

  • Lunches will be available at the town hall for those who have purchased the whole retreat package and for all others who order them ($5) on their registration forms.

Space in all workshops and Beaver Meadow Lodge is limited, so we advise serious writers and storytellers to register early.

Also...

  • Free tours to local points of interest have been arranged for retreat and workshop participants. Check the schedule below to find tour days for Nettle Meadow Goat Farm and Cheese Company, Martin's Sawmill & Stained Glass Stepping Stones, and Toad Hill Maple Farm. Although the tours are free, let us know which tour or tours you plan to attend so we can tell our hosts how many to expect. We will caravan from the town hall at the end of afternoon workshops.

On Saturday from 7- 10 p.m., rain or shine, join us at Veterans' Memorial Field, right behind the town hall, for a Story Concert featuring Bil Lepp, Bob Reiser, Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi, Karen Pillsworth and others. Admission for those not enrolled in the retreat is $8 for tickets ordered online (till July 5 payable with PayPal), $10 at the gate.

The schedule that follows is subject to change. Be sure to check back from time to time. Follow links to presenters' pages to read full descriptions of workshops, notes about materials you should take to your workshops and other relevant matters. Enroll in these workshops and sign up for one-on-one consultation with our authors and storytellers on the appropriate registration form. Click on the links below.
