4. Membership in the John Thurman Historical Society ~ The John Thurman Historical Society's mission is to discover and collect, publicize and preserve the history of the town of Thurman. Toward that end the society

• Hosts an annual program of traditional music, the Fiddlers' Jamboree in September
• Hosts an annual house tour by trolley in September
• Hosts an annual Veterans' Appreciation Dinner in October
• Hosts monthy historical programs the first Tuesdays of April, May, June, July, August and September
• Publishes the Quarterly, an attractive magazine filled with photographs and stories about local history (March, June, September (tour book issue), December (Calendar issue)
• Cooperates with the Thurman Town Historian
• Operates a concession at some town concerts
• Offers its publications frequently at Thurman Station Farmers' Market

The membership year runs from January through December. Those joining mid-year will be considered to be joining for the current calendar year, and will receive that year's back issues of the Quarterly if they have chosen a membership option that includes them. Various categories of membership are available, and you may order one for yourself or as a gift for another. Choose the one that suits you best, but if you are including the Quarterly, make sure you choose an option that includes shipping if you will not regularly attend meetings to pick up your copy.
