TOUR
Nettle Meadow Goat and Sheep Dairy

BACK TO THURMAN FARM TOURS | NETTLE MEADOW FARM | TOUR MARTIN'S LUMBER | TOUR TOAD HILL MAPLE

YOUR NETTLE MEADOW EXPERIENCE

Hosts Sheila Flanagan and Lorraine Lambiase introduce young and old to their passion - the historic farm where their dream of raising goats and making cheese has become a reality. They raise goats, sheep, llamas and the occasional rescue animal, all with stories!

You'll tour a few yards from the house and cheese porch, meeting sheep, miniature horses, llamas, ducks, chickens, turkeys, peacocks and goats. Kids can learn how to differentiate between 7 different breeds of goats. You'll see the hundred-year-old "horse" barn (which now houses some goats and a llama). Kids from urban areas are usually delighted by the animals, which may be petted - and sometimes kissed. Back at the house, enjoy sampling various cheeses before boarding the bus for your next stop.

SAMPLING AND SHOPPING

When your tour has ended, return to the converted old dairy barn at the main entrance for cheese tasting and shopping from our wide array of cheeses, many which have received national acclaim. Nettle Meadow is committed to the principles of natural and organic ingredients, happy and healthy animals and carefully hand-crafted artisan cheese. The farm produces several varieties of soft goat cheeses and is well known for its award winning semi-aged cheeses including Kunik, a rich and flavorful triple crème from goat milk and jersey cow cream and a first place winner at the American Cheese Society in 2010; Three Sisters, a firm three milk cheese and American Cheese Society winner in 2012; Crane Mountain, a semi-aged block made of 100% goat's milk; Simply Sheep, a semi-aged wheel of 100% sheep's milk; and Nettle Peaks, a goat's milk pyramid with a nettle infusion and vegetable ash dusting within its bloomy rind.
